I am mildly nearsighted in one eye and moderately nearsighted in the other according to my doctor. Because one eye is better than the other I have never worn them more than for driving and tv etc. Without glasses I feel like the worse eye is trying harder also I can tell that one image is blurrier than the other. Maybe not surprisingly after a while this gives me a headache. My boyfriend says I should just put my glasses on before I even get a headache but my family always say you shouldn't wear glasses till you absolutely have to. Sometimes I do that anyway but it's different to wearing them all the time.

Has anyone else been in this situation?

  1. you should ask your optician! they will know more than your family.

  2. One of your eyes is quite nearsighted which probably explains it. It's good that you called the doctor's office and got their suggestion. I have -2 and -3 and started to wear contact lenses this year. I was always reluctant to wear glasses because my better eye (it was -1.50 then) could see kind of okay. Then I got contacts and all the discomfort and one-eye-blur disappeared. Wear your glass and you'll notice a big difference. It's great!

  3. i know what you are going through because i was in the same situation before. I think that you should  start wearing glasses or contact lenses. I don't think that it will damage your eyes for not doing so but on my case I just couldn't bare with the discomfort. The best thing is to be able to see properly. I just wonder whats the prescription on your both eyes. When I began having those problems, One eye was around -0.5 and the other was -2.25. So there was a big difference and I just couldn't take it, I was having headaches and my eyes are feeling tired all the time. So I just got glasses, this was around 10 years ago, today my eyes are almost the same prescription and I am still wearing glasses...

  4. I have one eye worse than the other too - one mild, one moderate - but I'm long sighted. I put up with my head aches for ages, only using the glasses for reading - until I had to accept that I needed to wear my glasses all the time, when the difference between my eyes reached 1.75. Anyway, I'm a lot happier now, and I can't believe that I put up with the headaches, and the reduced depth perception, for so long (and now I don't have to worry about wearing glasses, because I already do). Also, if you get contacts, you may only need one.

  5. call your doctor set an appointment and explain your problem they do have re-checks at no charge with in reasonable time of exam .
