  1. Idk, never been. Why co there?

  2. Chile is beautiful, the universities are very good and you can a job in a Hotel o Restaurant.

  3. Chileans are great people.  I'd agree that the culture is generally laid back, with that being somewhat different in Santiago, and that each city has it's own personality.  Valparaíso is an especially interesting city with a stronger European influence.  I'd highly recommend it for studying.  As with any other place, it is important to be aware of your surroundings to keep safe, especially on buses (or micros as they call them there).

Work can be tricky.  It is illegal to work in Chile on a student or tourist visa.  That's not to say it's impossible to do so.  You'll just have to do it "under the table" for cash.  Obviously there are some risks involved with that so you'll have to decide if it's worth it for you.  In addition to restaurant work, if you're fluent in English you may be able to find work tutoring English.

    Good luck.

  4. The lifestyle here in Chile is relaxed and friendly, especially for students. It will depend a lot on what part of Chile you are going to be studying in. Each city has it's own personality but overall, the people are friendly, you have beaches if you like swimming and the mountains if you like skiing or hiking.

Santiago is a little more hectic as almost half the population of Chile live in the capital city, but outside of Santiago life is much slower and relaxed.

As for work, the suggestion to work in a restaurant was a good one, it shouldn't be too difficult to find that type of work. Salaries in Chile are very low though, so you should come with some extra money just to be sure. The good news is that the cost of living in Chile is not too much either so you shouldn't have a problem.

Enjoy your time in Chile. It's a beautiful country with friendly people and an interesting culture.
