  1. Most americans i spoke to find england very crowded, the streets are small, the cities are close together, the road layouts are a mess, the culture. the thing you would need to get used to most is us british people!! we have a complete different sense of humour to americans and just sometimes dont get along, but i m sure u will be fine:)

  2. everything is smaller [[cars, houses, stores, streets, etc]]

everything is wayy more expensive [[around double the price]]

the people aren't generally as open or friendly if they dont know you [[they won't say hi or smile if you pass someone in the street]]

  3. A mistake people on both sides of the Atlantic make is thinking that because the British and Americans have they same language, we have the same culture - we don't! There are many cultural nuances that can lead to misunderstanding.

    Here are a few tips:

Us Brits love to queue, we are the politest queuers in the world. Don't ever queue jump or you'll be lynched (verbally).

Brits (especially the Welsh and Scottish) don't like it when people don't know the difference between England, Britain and the United Kingdom. Learn the differences.

Brits are very proud of driving on the left, which is the original and correct way.

Brits love to criticise the royals, but don't like anyone else to criticise them. The same goes for the BBC and the NHS.

Brits hate the letter 'z' and try to use it as little as possible.

We really do talk about the weather all the time, but that's because it's so weird here.

Drinks are never topped up for free in the UK.

Don't let Prime Minister's Questions fool you, most Brits are very polite. However, people in Britain (young people especially) are often much more honest than Americans. This can sound abrupt and even aggressive, but it's just the way we speak.

    Hopes this helps.

  4. Different parts of the US are quite different from each other,

    so it's hard to generalize.

This cute saying is fairly apt though, giving quick insight:

In Britain, they think a 100 miles is a long way,

In America they think a 100 years is a long time.

I am American and lived in Britain for about 2 1/2 years,

many years ago.  I had a great time.

Depending on what part of the US you are from,

you will experience more or less difference.

Overall, the one thing I would mention is scale.

Americans just think bigger and in bigger terms.

In part it's from having so much more land,

but our houses are bigger, cars, roads, just about

    everything.

The most similar part of the US to Britain is ... New England!

Not surprising really, since it was founded by English

people and is closest geographically, so if you

are from the South or the West, where things are more

relaxed - and the climate is different, you'll see a bigger

    contrast.

There is a lot more nice countryside, but without

the grand spectacles such as we find in our National

Parks.  Just about anywhere you go, it's fairly pleasant

    in terms of scenery.

I found people there to be more knowledgeable,

about history, world affairs, geography and the like,

and somewhat more serious.  On the other hand,

they drink a LOT more, and they have great senses of humor ... make that humour.  (They spell differently,

    sometimes, too.)

Just remember, one way or another of doing things

    isn't necessarily better, just different.

Well, that's a start, you'll be able to write your own

essay after a while, but it will be exciting and as

good or bad as you want it to be.
