I am moving over to Basel, Switzerland in August hired by a company with annual gross salary of 80K franc which is taxable. I would like to know the cost of living in the city, and will appreciate anyone providing such info.

  2. 80,000 Swiss francs per year is not a bad amount of money to be making. It's above average even for Switzerland. I don't know what size apartment you're looking for but a 60+ square meter apartment will easily run you 1000+ CHF a month near the center of the city. It's about the same in any major Swiss city. Of course housing is cheaper outside of the center, and public transportation in Basel and Switzerland in general is outstanding, so it wouldn't be a big hassle to commute every day if you're looking for cheaper rent.
