I'm so sorry!  I laughed when I read your question because I can remember all too well the 50's furniture!  

My only suggestion would be to fall forward or drop back a few decades!  30's furniture is a bit romantic and 70's is, well, it's interesting!

It depends on which style from the 50's you enjoy..........Are you looking for the diner style, sock-hop/girly, or automobile....The best place to find alot of these items will be at antiques dealers, yard sales, and E-Bay........You can look under juke-box, roller skates, drive-in's, muscle cars of the 50's, poodle skirts,shebby chic, or retro  furniture..........if all else fails look at the fabric stores for some theme ideas....Hope this has been helpful :-)
