I am moving to Canada, & wish to take my PC with me. Will it work OK on Canada's power system?

I realise the voltages are different, I think Canada run on 120V.

Apparently UK computers can operate at 100-240V so I guess it should be OK. Just wondering whether anyone else has used a UK in Canada before?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Check the back of your PC.  Some power supplies have a recessed switch to allow for a different imput voltage.  You'll probably need a different power cord, though.

Failing that, there are tons of adapters to meet your needs.  Just think about all the business travelers that carry their electronic gear with them.

yea it'll be ok, all u need will be a socket adapter, cuz the pins on your line will be different from the socket holes in canada

You didn't say if it was a lap top or not?

Lap top check the power supply, in your posting you say it runs from 100-240 if it is like the charger for my camera and PSP all you will need to purchase is the power cord from the wall outlet to the charger.  Both of my units were able to be recharged in the UK without any problems except for hunting down the powercords in the area where I was staying.  It is best NOT to go with a wall adapter.

Desktop PC on the other hand the power supplies don't usually accept a wide range of input voltage.  You can purchase a new power supply in Canada and install or have it installed.  Also as an other poster said some of the power supplies do have a small switch to change from 120 to 240 and then all you would need again is a power cord.

Good luck on your move and welcome to Canada.  If I may offer some personal advise you are going to find things here both strange and fimillar makes things interesting at least it did when I moved.  PS depending on where you move to get yourself a good warm coat and a pair of mitts.  Oh and a toque is a type of knit hat.
