I am moving to England soon. I am an American. Any advice on the best way to get a visa, job, etc...?

Your first concern will be to get a work visa.  You can stay in England as a tourist for 6 months without a visa...but cannot work.  Getting a work visa will be very challenging.  It is nearly impossible for a "U.K. citizen to work in the U.S. and  the reverse is true to.  See site below to read about work visas.

apply ASAP

see if you can get a job before applying if a company sponcers you are more likely to get in.

Also because you have a partner with EU standing (i am assuming)... again that will help you.

umm also don't call it england .... this is such an american thing -- call it the UK
