Does anyone know a reliable website to look for properties to rent, there? We were told our location YESTERDAY, so I don't really have much time left. If anyone can help me out, I'd very much appreciate it!

Thanks in advance!

  1. Some answers sound like ads...

I'm an american who use to live in Monterrey. It's a very beautiful city. You'll love it!!!. The mountains are precious!.

You can log on to the website of the main newspaper (El Norte) on the Classified Ads Section.   http://avisos.elnorte.com It's free and it's more reliable.

You need to keep in mind that Monterrey is not a economically leveled city. It has different types of neighboorhoods. You'll need to know where are you going to work, so you can look up a suburb that's closest to your location.

Monterrey is formed by 9 municipalities.

    Monterrey (Downtown, the main one),

Guadalupe (the one that hosts the Cerro de la Silla),

San Pedro Garza Garcia (the richest one),

San Nicolas de los Garza (the one with the State University Main Campus),

    Santa Catarina (the western one),

Apodaca (the one with two international airports),

    Escobedo (mostly working class)

Cd. Benito Juarez (the eastern one)

Santiago (with the La Boca Dam, the Magical Village and Horse Tail Falls)

The municipality of Monterrey (since is too big) it's -off the record- divided by several zones:

ANAHUAC (Mostly San Nicolas and Southern Escobedo)

    CUMBRES (Northwest Monterrey)

    CENTRO (Downtown Monterrey)

CONTRY (Southern Monterrey and Extreme Southwest Guadalupe)

CARRETERA NACIONAL (Extreme southern Monterrey and Santiago)

VALLE (All San Pedro, Eastern Santa Catarina and Western Monterrey).

Find out where are you going to work. That way you will know where to find a place to live that's nearby.

    Good luck!!!

  2. Hi Brauny,

I have a relocations services company in Monterrey called Integra Relocation Solutions - we provide support with a range of aspects of the relocation process, from finding a house, to arranging Spanish lessons, getting a Mexican driving license and immigration queries, to name but a few.

We can provide info on different areas of the city, give you a map and a housing tour and arrange for a list of properties to be drawn up for you before you even set foot in Mexico! We also sell the most comprehensive guide book written specifically for English-speakers moving to Monterrey.

Have a look at our website: www.integra-mty.com, see if there's anything of interest to you.

    My email is laura@integra-mty.com

    Good luck with your move!

  3. Ya,know, that just does not work in  Mexico. Americans like to plan ahead and be very organized...but in Mexico, this way of looking for a rental does not work.  You need to stay in a hotel a week or two when you arrive.  Then use a real estate agent, or ask around  where a good section of town is and drive around there looking for signs on houses...this works best.
