  1. Hiking in Strathcona Park

Sea Kayaking on the west coast and north of Campbell River.

Nanaimo has coal island for day hikes.

  2. Nanaimo is a very pretty town.. That's where Nanaimo bars come from.  Tasty!

I'm not even Canadian, but if I were I would definitely move there.  It's quite peaceful.. not sure about crime but I understand there are a lot of drunk indians.

  3. Nanaimo isnt that great...im from Vancouver and have been there a couple times.....there isnt really anything to do there other than the movie theaters there and the super crappy malls!!! if you want to live on the island i would suggest Victoria or even better i would recommend VANCOUVER!!!

  4. You'll find plenty to do here in Nanaimo!

If you enjoy the outdoors, then you will never run out of things to do. Plenty of amazing hiking trails, surfing (in Tofino), swimming... you name it. July is a great time to come if you like swimming - the Nanaimo River is practically epic.

Nightlife is good here too, and there are plenty of places to eat and hang out.

Email me if you have any questions - am 20 years old and been living here my entire life.

HAVE to laugh at the person who mentioned "Crappy Malls" when Nanaimo's home to the largest Mall on the Island. Ive traveled to the US, NZ, AU, UK and of course Van at least once a Month... and I still love Nanaimo.

  5. Check out Victoria (the Butchart Gardens etc.)

Maybe go to Long Beach, Tofino?

You can always go on hikes and go whale watching or kayaking and stuff.
