  1. I'm not a cyclist myself, but I don't imagine the roads being a problem.  It depends on where you plan on cycling.  I'm not familiar at all with Honolulu, but I wouldn't imagine it would be a problem.  Anywhere away from Honolulu would be fine to cycle at.  Speed limits are generally slower than mainland speed limits, so you don't have to a worry about cars whizzing by you.  The scenery of the North Shore is beautiful, you'll love cycling here.


  2. I don't think it is that bad.  Traffic is bad but people are generally courteous (as long as you are not doing stupid stuff).  Most of the roads in Honolulu are wide enough to accommodate cars and bikes.  

    Wear a helmet and obey the traffic laws and you should be fine.  Check the Hawaii Bicycling League site (hbl.org) for bike route information.
