  1. I would suggest you get something close to work initially.  If you don't have a job yet, just get something close to the city and/or public transport.  For a flatshare, check out this website.  It will give you an idea of the prices, in different areas:

I have used the website when I first got here and found it very helpful!

    Best of luck!

  2. This depends on personal prefference.

Fremantle is nice. It's one of the oldest parts of perth(technically it's its own town but is only a half hour drive from the cbd) almost all the buildings are original buildings so the place has lots of character. It's near the beach and has a train station. Rent depends on the flat/unit but you will pay extra for living in any nice suburb.

Hillaries is nice but its top of the market so you can expect to pay accordingly. Right near the beach(one of our best in my opinion) but i like the place mostly because the beack has shops a carnival,a mini golf course with a fake toilet that sprays water at you, and this air obstacle coarse thing. There also extending it.

  3. Fremantle is nice , good access to the trains and  it's by the sea . Most places are of walking distance in Freo. .Forget about Rockingham , there's no comparison.

Here's a website to check out rents around Perth.

  4. As far as Im concerned Fremantle is overcrowded and too expensive.  I live in Rockingham.  Its a pleasant community with plenty of schools, shops etc and fantastic beaches - the beaches here are MUCH better than the beaches in Freo and no Im not just being biased - our beaches in Rockingham have won international awards.  We also have places like Shoalwater Islands Marine Park.   Most of our beaches are in sheltered bays and we have large populations of seals, dolphins (quite friendly critters), and penguins.  Rents can be high, nowhere near as bad as Freo though, there are some great golf courses and we now have good train access to the city and to Mandurah.

  5. id have to say fremantle but if you what to pay reasonable rents try thinking of rockingham-has a nice community  but frem has so much fun but a bit expensiver

it depnds on you if you want a quieter choose rock
