I will be withdrawing from my high school (in Nevada) on or around the 1st of March, will i have to enroll in the school district and then withdraw? or do I just begin with the curriculum that we will purchase?

  1. i think cyber schooling is better than homeschooling . all you would need to do is enroll , the new school district doesnt need know .

  2. Get a Home and start schooling

  3. Texas is one of the easiest states to homeschool in - no testing, no portfolio, no gov't interference.  Since you aren't enrolled in any Texas school right now, you will not need to do anything as far as the local school district or state are concerned.  If you're going to use an online school, you will need to enroll with that school, but you don't need to notify the school district or state about it.

A great resource for Texas homeschool info is THSC Assoc.  Their website is:

  4. Technically you're supposed to notify the Texas district, but the HS orgs say don't.  Consult with them.

    Texas is the most liberal

All you need do is have some proof that you are doing on-going studies in History, Geography, Reading, Writing, Math, Science and Texas history.

  5. I'm a Texas homeschooler and we love it!  Homeschooling in Texas is so easy.  Here's some info for you:

No notification or reporting is required.  Basically, all you need to do is choose your homeschooling method and curriculum and get started.  Here's some info that may help you in that decision:

    Good luck!

  6. Well, I'm homeschooled....And I persoanlly dislike it....I've lost all my friends, and lost the social outings....Pretty much everything....

It is alot easier, I'll tell you that, but....I wouldn't suggest it though....But some people love it! Everyone's different....

    Here's a few websites....

    http://www.connectionsacademy.com/

    http://www.k12.com/

Connections Academy was really easy, I regret switching from it....

Also most schools, you don't have to pay for, unless it's private....

And for me usually it takes around 4 hours if I take my time....I can do it in alot less time, but I slack off and stay on myspace, lol....It usually doesn't take that long....

I've been homeschooled since the 5th grade....

    All my best!

  7. In TX, homeschools are considered private schools; you just start up and go.  If you are not withdrawing your child from a TX school, they don't require notification of any kind.  No tests, eval's, or letter of intents :-)

You do need to follow the required subjects, but it's pretty easy - we're just north of the border in OK, and easily do that and more.  Here's a site with the info: http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp?St...

    Hope that helps!
