I'm a 25 year old single female and want to live in a safe enough area, but also cannot afford outrageous rent. What areas of the city should I avoid?

  1. There are bad people everywhere. Even in the not so nice areas you are going to have to pay high rent. Avoid Ventura, Pomona, LA, Hollywood, Burbank, Pasadena.

South LA is a very nice area with low rent.

  2. If you are coming from out of state, you will likely feel that everyplace in the greater LA area has outrageous rents.

Get a job first then find a place near there to live. A week or two of job hunting will show you the places to avoid.

Just remember, if an area looks crummy, it is.

  3. I live over here in Oxnard Ventura county. A lot of areas are dangerous no matter where you go. But if you must don't spend too much time in El Rio or Colonia. Rival gangs! But most of this area is safe.

  4. metal fences, litter & large groups of people = poverty which = drug central

  5. You should be fine in the Ventura city limits.  You may want to avoid the area around Ventura Ave.
