  1. Well...I'd recommend bringing your car, as that's what I did...but that's up to you. You can buy one when you get here if you want, but you will need a car.

Unfortunately I live on the other side of Germany, so I can't recommend anywhere particular. If you have any questions about living here, shoot me an email.

  2. First of all, welcome to Bavaria! There are two recommendations I can give you; first thing is that you should  read the local newspapers for houses for rent, and second thing is that you'll rather not bring your car, as it probably will not pass the German technical surveillance test ("TÜV"). But there's a huge used car market, and a used one should do for the time of your stay. And don't collapse when you see our local gas prices. They're horrible.

@alexandra, I didn't know that car inspections can be done on post. Thanks for that info.

  3. Yes, the housing office will help you, they also have landlords that are already listed with their office and good to go to rent their house. You can sign a contract but you have to understand that even if you sign a contract for two or more years, you can always move with a notice of I think it is 3 months. This is different from the US.

  4. the housing office can help u with that or like Alwin said look online or newspaper for adds. U need a car vilseck is in the middle of nowhere the army pays for it so why not bring it over just get use to the small parking spaces. Inspection is done on post so no worries about passing the german one.
