Question:

I am moving to europe and want to take large amt of Candian money there with me. What's the best way?

(I do not yet have a bank account set up there. Do you suggest cash, travellers cheques, transfer???)

  1. I would say, leave it on your bank account in Canada, (if you can let that run,) and use the ATMs in Europe to get your money while here.

    That is mostly the cheapest option, the least fees.

    Or use your credit card while in Europe.

    And whatever you do, make sure that your money is safe from pickpockets and stupidity. (People leave their briefcase with cash besides their chair will walking away, to be surprised when it is gone on their return.)


  2. Be careful.  If you take more than the maximum amount allowed they could take all your money off you.  Check - you might be OK if you declare it.  I recommend travellers cheques.

  3. cash would require a lot of explaining and pretty worrisome  to travel with... travellers cheques are better but you should also check that there is not a maximum limit of cash/cheques you can leave country with at any one time.  I know the US its 10,000 but not sure if Canada has similar restrictions. .
