I am moving to louisiana and will be applying for food stamps.?

We have already lined up a place to stay and have a lease. The lease includes the electricity and water so there will be no utility bills in my name. Will they deny me over that? Also I just had a baby and am not currently working. My boyfriend was working at target but only for 3 weeks so he only has on epay stub. I had pregnancy complications and he had quit his previous job to take care of me. They state that you must bring 4 pay stubs but we only have one. Is this going to be an issue? i have never applied before and dont know what to expect

they usually do requre 30 days of income. However they also have forms that you can get your neighbors/landlord  to fill out that says nobody in your household is working and they will have a form for his former employer to fill out and those should work. The no utilties won't make a difference.. they just won't give you a utility allowance and will only count your rent and other deductions.  You will probably have to have a MD note that says why he quit his previous job and why you can't work..since you must be working to get food stamps. I would talk to the DHS office there is AR and have them call LA and ask what they will need so you can get it before you get there. it will be much easier than trying to get MD notes, etc from LA. and much faster.

It could take up to 45 days to get food stamps so you may have to hit some food banks or churches for help. ignore these people who critiicize you for needing food stamps. Some  people think that they give food stamps out to everyone just because they want them . they don't understand that you have to have NOTHING to get them and that people treat you like dirt when you use them. They didn't even read your details..they just assumed you were too lazy to work.. that's how most people are... I wish you GL.

Its not gonna be an issue, people are kind and will lend you moeny. anywayz im ghetto too, im gonna apply for food stamps as well, its coo man .. we da same ... Push some carts, collect cans, do something to make some money, mow lawns, flip some burgers if you have too.

If you're not already on WIC, get it as soon as you get there.

Go apply for Food Stamps and they will tell you there if you need more documentation.  Since it sounds like your expenditures exceed your income, you should be put on emergency food stamps.  AFTER you apply, check-out the local food banks for assistance.  If you're not going to be able to apply without more documentation, go to the food banks, but applying is your first step.

ill tell you the truth most people there are crappy and look down on you and treat you like your trash but just be nice its their karma if they say you need to bring 4 pay stubs you really need to bring 4 pay stubs call the office beforehand and tell them your situation they might think of an alternative

i recommend that you stay where you are, and let your boyfriend find another job, save some money, and move later on. youll probably be asked for a downpayment on the apartment, so apply for food stamps wherever you are living right now and wait for your boyfriend to save some money.

You will just need to take a letter with you stating that you are responsible for the utility bills this letter needs to be signed by the person whose name is on the bills. As far as the pay stubs, they ask for a months worth so not necessarily 4 pay stubs. They will wait to approve your case until you can provide them with at least 1 more as this one more will show them what his paychecks will normally be.
