I am moving to the republic of ireland in august but my UK car tax is up for renewal in July.?

If I renew my car tax for 6 months in the UK could I get away with not taxing it in ireland for 6 months?

  2. if you do the right thing, it will cost you a lot of money as car tax here in the republic is very expensive.

    May i suggest you keep it taxed and insured in UK for a long as you can.

  3. you can drive in Ireland for 6 months in Ireland on UK car tax that's for sure that no problem your problem will then be when you go to tax it here in Ireland you will have to get your car re-reged pay v.a.t on it so on and so forth i know there was a way around this where you take the car out of Ireland back again to get around paying the v.a.t but i dont know if you can still do that anymore that is the question you should be asking but your safe with getting taxed for the six months
