I found a 1974 honda 350-four on craigslist for $350. All it needs is a battery to run but it is not pretty at all. How expensive are the parts for this type bike? How hard are they to find? Is this a good starter bike? Thank you.

  1. The parts shouldn't be too tough to find, but it's not as easy as working with a newer bike.  It can take some time, which can get annoying if you are in a hurry to fix something. The parts aren't too expensive yet either, but again if you are in a hurry you may end up paying a little more.

These projects are fun, but they can nickle and dime you to death if you let them, and they can get annoying if you want to use it, but you're waiting on parts.  If you got the money and time, go for it.

My suggestion is to set a limit on how much you're willing to spend, then start pricing out different things you know you'll need.  If it looks like it will run way more, don't buy it, or sell it before you drop a lot into it.  Keep in mind that not every bike is a good restoration project, some have passed on.

  2. Good way to learn have fun. At least you do not have all of the c**p they put on them now days.
