I am new to pumpkins and a stem split today and it looks like gooey meat is coming out of the split what to do

I am also getting white stuff on the leaves. Should I be pruning the old male flowers that the old flower has broken off?

The gooey meat is a vine borer or squash bug..the white stuff on leafs is powdery mildew a fungi..spray with a fungicide..and also use something for the vine borers..
