Believers in the sense that they believe or know that we are heading for global catastrophe because we exhale CO2, etc.

  1. As with any deeply rooted and emotional issue (abortion for example) there are very clear battle lines drawn.  I think there is a significant "gray area" that consists of people unsure on the Climate Change issue and I feel sorry for them -- they must feel like they're getting pounded from both sides.

As with any Y!A forum / category you get some inane questions along with some very thought provoking ones.  You take the bitter with the sweet so to say.

The breakdowns from what I can tell (keep in mind I'm a strong believer that Climate Change is happening and is man made) the scale tips a bit towards those accepting the core ideas of climate change.

The link below is to the UN report on Climate change.  That might be of help.

  2. Al Gore the inconvinent  IDIOT

  3. i would say it's about 50/50, if you are a skeptic, be warned that if you have a good argument then the believers or a particular believer will report you if he/she doesn't like your opinion, it has happened to me a few times. You have to have a good sense of humour on here as there are a few people that get emotional and quite abusive. Check out this website http://www.iceagenow.com if you haven't already. BTW good luck with the bullies

  4. discussions are generally good, but like very category, every category has those who don't answer well or good enough. I'm a believer, does that count?

  5. some discussions are good some are bad. personally i really hate the al gore arguments but luckily there are not many of those around.

  6. Depends on what side of the argument you're on.  If you believe in AGW or GW you'll be a God here, able to make all kinds of claims based on 0.00000003% of data of the earths existance.

If you don't believe in AGW or GW, you'll be called stupid, ignorant or worse.  I get hate mail from AGW and GW proponents.  I've had many thumbs down, I consider them to be battle scars.

Any new data is ignored by the AGW and GW people, like this years record cold in China (provinces), it's merely ignored because it doesn't fit their model.

I have learned somethings:  Al Gore is not entirely a hypocrite, he did donate his winnings from his Nobel to charities.  But he still doesn't fly commericial flights or carpool, he has a huge carbon footprint (I don't care that he buys into carbon credit scam that he created)

    You'll find out shortly.

  7. Whereas we had 99 % good, original atmosphere 200 years ago, we may have only 84 % now, the rest is automobile exhaust poisons that are worse than outer space.  80 million barrels burned per day is a nightmarish fire.  So, with so many petroleum addicts,  I feel like the Earth has a lot more enemies than friends.  I wish people would consider traveling in tubes getting the air power directly from the Jet Stream.  Constructively speaking there isn't much that people nowadays could not build.  Politically speaking the current government does not want to lose control and power over us and the money so we really are in a pickel

  8. many discussions here are good. 90% are believers.

Some questions and answers are stupid.

    Some are sarcastic.

Some are meant to score 2 points only.

But very often the answers are very informative.

Aside of beleivers and skeptics, majority are ignorant of the feared catastrophe.

  10. I recently asked "do you believe in AGW?, answer yes or no? I had 39 answers 31 answered 'yes'. 8 answered 'no' but of those, 5 could not just say 'no' but had to go on about Al Gore and be insulting and/or rude. I thought it was kind of interesting.

There are many good contributors and a few really bad ones, stick around for a week and I think you can sort the wheat from the chaff.

But just to correct you, "we are not heading for global catastrophe because we exhale CO2, etc." We are heading for a serious upset of weather patterns and all the possible consequences because of the horrific amount of pollution we cause.
