I am 20yrs old and just started my sophomore year, but I am really not enjoying the college life. I am not big on the whole going to big house parties and am more of a chill with some close friends type of person. I don't know a whole lot of people and I really just love to hang out with my boyfriend when I have free time. I work 3 days a week also and I love my job . I absolutely am hating going to school, but I don't want to let my parents down by not going to school and getting a degree. should I maybe try on line courses that I can do in my spare time and just work full time?? And how do I tell my parents i want to drop out of college.

P.S. my brother also dropped out of college so i really don't want them to feel like failures for me not going to a four year university :(

ANY HELP IN GREATLY APPRECIATED

THANK YOU!!

  1. stick to it. if you don't, you'll regret it later.

  2. People with high school degrees, on average, make half as much money as people with bachelors.

    Something to keep in mind.

And just because you don't like house parties doesn't mean you can't still enjoy college. Remain close with tight friends and think about getting involved in extra curricular activities, community service projects, or picking up a new hobby. All great ways to make like minded friends.

  3. go to school coz you might not be able to do it later.dont you have friends there? you can do online courses.that'll be better .your parents might agree with you then.but you need to put in hard work to do it.finally its your option.so, all the best.

  4. Do you enjoy your classes?  If you don't enjoy the social part of school, you are not forced to participate in that.  Just show up for your classes and do your work.

As for online classes, some of them require a certain number of hours per week for you to be logged into the website.  Some require being online at a certain time every week for group discussions.  The ones that I have taken require even more work than a regular class because the instructor wants to know for sure that you are understanding everything so the homework assignments are required for you to do.

  5. I would not attend a online school. Okay yeah, you haven't meet many people and you dont like the college life. Although that shouldn't stop you from getting a college education. Maybe you should stay in a apartment, and if you and your boyfriend have a really good relationship maybe you guys can be roomates ( apartment though).

  6. Stick with it!!  Someday soon you will be sooooo glad you did!
