I know this is in real advance but i thought i would get a reag big head start.
Good Evening teachers, parents, staff, family, friends and the Grade.8 Graduating class of 2009. We are all here today to celebrate a huge step in our lives once again. Today is a very special day for everyone. The Grade 8's: This is a day to celebrate us entering a new chapter in our lives. Some of you will take these memories and throw them in a closet and never look back again. Some of you will throw these memories in a closet and look back now and then. And some of you will take these memories and cherish them for the rest of your lives. I know that's what I'll do. Parents: this is a day to celebrate and be sad. To celebrate because your children are growing up to be mature adults (well some of us). To also see us advancing our academic and spiritual minds. To be sad becasue your baby is not your baby anymore. They will always be your children but they won't stay your baby forever. I know most of the parents here tonight will be sad seeing there children grow up so fast. I know my mom is. But, this doesn't mean we'll leave you. And some of these parents here tonight are glad to see there children grow up and have a life of their own. Teachers: This day is to see all the great work you have done for us. To see your students advancing in an education you and our parents have built for us. And also to FINALLY see us leave! BUt at least you know all your hardwork payed off.
These years of our lives will always be remembered no matter what path you choose. Most of us have had up's and down's. But for the up moments elementary school has been the best 9 years of my life so far. First off i would like to thank our teachers. Teacher:a person whose job is to teach others.Thank you to all the teachers i have had and haven't. Starting with Miss. Cifani: She helped us make friends and share. Without her and our parents we might of had some greedy little monsters running aorund the school. Mrs. Decheasere: She taught us how to spell our name and draw pictures. Without her i don't think all of us would know how to spell our names And we thank you. Mrs.Candelora/Mrs.Riverso: Another big step in our school lives. We learned how to spell, do math, read, write, and learned some communication skills. Mrs.Riverso(again)/Mrs.Petrina-Mus: This year we had a huge step in our spritual life and you guys helped us prepare for it. Our first holy communion and reconciliation. We couldn't have done it without you guys. Mrs.Dwyer-Mitchell/ Mrs.Alfano Destephanis:This year was another good year. You guys taught us how to multiply, divide, write storys, and do creative art. This was also the first year of EQAO testing. We couldn't have passed grade 3 without you. Mrs.Piro/Mrs.Dwyer-Mitchell (again): Grade.4 was another step in our lives we are now officially Juniors and Mrs.Piro never let us forget it. No more acting like primarys. This year was also our first year doing french thanks to Mr.Skarratt. And we also did Speeches. Mrs.Ferrante/Mrs.Dwyer Mitchell (how many times is she on this list!?): Grade.5 was also a good year. We had individual testing done. This year we learned how to measure angles, more multiplying and dividing, and literature circles. Thanks for all your help. Mr.Pocsai/Mrs.Vanderzalm: This year was the second year of EQAO testing. Mr.Pocsai was new to the school this year. And so was Mrs.Tice! This was the funniest year of elementary school. Mr.Pocsai and Mrs.Vanderzalm made it a great year for us .Also i would like to thank Mme.Daly for continuing to teach us french and we appreciate it. Miss.Zimmerman/Mr.Reid:Finally intermidiates. These 2 teachers were new this year. Alot happened throughout this year. Let me tell you i think Grade.7 was the most fun out of all the years.This is the year we all went to Quebec (fun times). And the Senior Girls won the basketball championships. And also this was the year of our Confirmation. We couldn't have been more prepared then we were thanks to Mr.Reid and Miss.Zimmerman. And finally our final year at St.Johns. Miss.Giglia/ :Finally we are graduating! This year we were joined by St.Christophers school.....
Mr.Cemka/Mrs.Tice:You guys are the most important! You ran the school. You made all the right choices to make our school a great enviorment for your students. And we thank you.
I know you guys might be getting bored of me but, let me tell you i am almost done. We also would like to thank our parents. Parent: One who gives birth to, or nurtures and raises a child; a father or mother. A guardian and a protector. Without them we would never be the students we are today. You guys taught us most of our manners (I also have to give some credit to Mme.Daly for that one a). You guys our are role models. And we appreciate everything you've done for us (even though sometimes you may not know it.) I know most teenagers don't get along with there parents very well. But, let me tell you one thing my mother always told me. You might need us one day. And they are right. One day we will need them. Today is one of those days. We need them to help us make the right choices as we move on into highschool. Our parents will always be there for us no matter what decision we make. And for that we thank you.
I would like to say a phrase from one of my favorite books: "Oh The Places You'll Go!" by. Dr.Seuss. " Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to great places. Your off and away. You have brains in your head. And you have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You're on your own And you know what you know. And YOU are the guy who'll decide where to go" This phrase is perfect for us this day. It tells us that we the graduating class can choose any direction we want to. As long as we believe in God and we believe in ourselves. God is another very important person we all have to thank. He is the reason why all of us our here. I think all of us here today owe God and Jesus a huge amount of thanks.
And now finally to conclude my speech. To the Grade.8 Class:
Were graduating, and we know
Our lives will be different and new;
We’re going out into the world,
Our goals and dreams to pursue.
But one thing will never, ever change,
As we go our separate ways;
The friends we’ve made in school will be
Our friends for the rest of our days.
The special ties and attachments we’ve made,
These bonds will never be broken;
We’ll continue to feel the closeness,
Though words may not be spoken.
So it’s not "goodbye," but rather "farewell;"
I’ll see you again, my friend.
Your friendship means a lot to me,
And it will never end.
