Sevilla boss, Michel Gonzalez, concurs with his president, Jose Maria del Nido, that the club cannot continue their dismal form on the road, and expects the trip to Espanyol to change that trend.
After Sevilla’s 5-1 victory over Real Betis on the weekend, everyone was expecting them to do well against the in-form Atletico Madrid. Instead, they were heavily defeated 4-0.
The Andalusian’s bad run on the road just continues. This was their 4th away defeat since the start of the season in the Primera Division. It was a result that was unacceptable in the eyes of the club president.
Jose Maria criticised the performance of the players and called the defeat ‘regrettable’ and one that ruined the image of the club.
The president urged the whole team to find consistency and improve the image of the club.
Sevilla boss, Michel, could not agree with Jose more. He stated that the feeling of the president is mutual and that if things continue on this path, he will not be pleased.
“What the President said is felt by all, whilst if we continue with that manner of performance, from the last three games played away from home, I will not be happy.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Michel-c25453 simply doesn’t accept the lack of consistency shown by his team. He knows the results Sevilla have registered in the beginning of the season were great. He wants his players to perform good both at home and away.
“But, we cannot be good and then do what we did, not just at the Calderon, but before.”
“But, we also cannot confuse or derail in four games the team’s overall image.”
The 49-year-old concluded his remarks on Sevilla’s next away game with the struggling Catalan side, Espanyol. He urges his players not to repeat the same mistakes they made against Atletico.
“Certainly, we cannot do against Espanyol what we have done in previous away games. We need more stability and Espanyol has to be approached as a game we want to win. 90 minutes remain and we will have to play well.”
The club’s lack of consistency has caused them to lag behind their rivals for the Champions League spot. They are currently on the bottom half of the table with 18 points.
