Sporting Lisbon’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ricky-van-Wolfswinkel-c31131 claims that although there are several clubs interested in signing him, he is not paying attention to any of them and claimed that he wanted to see out his contract at Estadio Jose Alvalade.
The 22-year-old has become one of the most coveted strikers on the continent after shining for the Lions during the first-half of the season. Van Wolfswinkel arrived in Lisbon full of burgeoning talent and a hefty fee of €5.4 million.
However the investment has clearly been a great decision by Sporting and they are now reaping the benefits of signing the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Utrecht-c39237 man.
Van Wolfswinkel has been finding the back of the net consistently and already has 14 goals to his name. His performances have also not gone unnoticed in the rest of Europe and according to reports; English Premier League giants Manchester United are interested
in acquiring his services.
United assistant coach Mike Phelan has already revealed that the Red Devils are tracking the progress of the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Netherlands-c753 International and with the club looking to maintain their title challenge, a move for the talented attacker could materialize before
the transfer window closes.
While the interest from the Premiership club is real, French side Paris Saint-Germain are also allegedly in the race to sign the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 man.
Backed by their new found financial power, Carlo Ancelotti’s men already have a plethora of players plying their trade at the helm and with a switch for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlos-c8346 Tevez looking unlikely, they have turned their attention to Van Wolfswinkel.
Although the prospect of plying his trade at one of the biggest clubs in the world or an upcoming cash-rich side is tempting, the player claims that he is not interested in moving from Sporting right now and wants to fulfil his contract at the helm.
“2011 was a year in which I hit several records. I enjoyed every minute. I know that many clubs are following me, but I do not pay attention to them. But if there is something concrete, I will listen. Until then, I have no interest and I see myself fulfilling
my contract.”
He also spoke about his chances of making it to the Netherlands National team and said that while he faced competition from some of Europe’s best players, anything could happen in the future.
"I face competition for selection from two of the best players in the world, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Luuk-de-Jong-c22956. I am sure the coach knows that I exist, but it is not easy. But if you're
right in the club, who knows what can happen.”
Although Ricky van Wolfswinkel is unwilling to leave Sporting Lisbon at the moment, it will be hard to resist if the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United come knocking for his signature.
