The Bayern Munich President is confident that the Borussians are capable of downing the Reds in their bid to win this season’s Bundesliga crown.
Franz Beckenbauer believes that Borussia Dortmund are certainly the favourites to win this year’s Bundesliga. He stated that Jurgen Klopp’s men have made a sensational start to the second-half of the season by claiming all nine
points from three outings, in comparison to Bayern, who have managed only four points from the possible nine.
The President was talking in the wake of Bayern’s 1-1 draw at the weekend over Hamburg, which allowed Dortmund to attain a two-point lead atop the league standings. Beckenbauer confirmed that the Reds have not been the same as
they were during the first-half of the season, and lack venom in their approach.
While talking to sports magazine, Bild, the former sweeper further added:
"I cannot be happy that Dortmund have taken Munich's place at the top. Bayern lack the lightness they had in the first half of the season. The naturalness with which the attack around Franck Ribery, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Bastian-Schweinsteiger-c7374, Thomas
Mueller and Mario Gomez got the victories.”
Beckenbauer insisted that the Black-Yellows have found a perfect momentum, which might help them to win this season’s competition at the expense of the Bavarian giants. He also opined that the Borussians hold a clear advantage
as they will have enough time to rest in between games compared to Bayern, who will resume their services in Europe later this month.
"Dortmund have regained exactly this lightness ... Dortmund even continue winning without injured Mario Gotze. That will give the young team even more confidence. The difficult time with the extra strain from the Champions League
is yet to start,” Beckenbauer concluded.
Bayern are currently second in the league standings with 41 points, two points behind reigning champions, Borussia Dortmund. The Reds will face Stuttgart on February 8th in the quarter-finals of the DFB-Pokal before
hosting FC Kaiserslautern in the Bundesliga.
Jupp Heynckes’ men will later travel to face http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Basel-c39079 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round-of-16 game on Wednesday, February 22.
