even though i tell them that the person they are looking for is not here, they give me s**+**t about it and have given me attitude and even when i tried negotiating it with them they scoffed and tried mocking me and hung up. that s**+**t completely ruined my day. it was a major mood killer and i am really mad. I'm not even the one they are supposed to be speaking to.

Is it cause of me or is this very typical behavior for credit card debt collectors? They know I'm not the one that owes them!

  1. Well, actually no there not suppposed to

harrass you like that, but I have a question

If youre not the person, why are you

doing this? If theyre callin g, just pass the

calls to whoever the debt belongs to, the

calls will not stop until there is a payment

arrangement so you can talk to them till

youre blue in the face but if you dont come

to a certain agreement, theyll keep calling

and harassing you. Now the solution is

easy you have to/or the person that the

debt belongs to has to send a cease &

desist letter to all colectors/creditors and

by law they can only contact you by mail

and you can sue them if they dont comply

ok. But meanswhile dont answer, dont you

have caller id, and if youre not person, it

sounds kind of selfish or mean that some

body else would let you take care of things

like that you have enough to worry about

your things, dont you, dont be afraid to

    say no.   Good luck!!!!

  2. They probably think that you are hiding something from them. You say you do not owe the money but they probably think you know the person that does. Do you?

  3. yes they're paid to be like that unfortunately

  4. Hi,

I used "Credit Solution" to settle my debt and avoid bankruptcy. They managed to reduce my debt up to 58%.It's legitimate.I came across this company on NBC News Special Edition.Check it out here:

  5. yes, they are trying to scare you into giving them what they want or theyre in a bad mood from collecting debt all day.

  6. NO, and don't let them do it.  They are most likely violating the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  Next time they call you, be ever-so polite, take their name and number, company name, date and time of the call, etc.  Log their behavior every time they call, and once you've gotten a clear history of their behavior, file a complaint at the FTC's website.  Many debt collectors have been sued and lost over the way they treat the consumer.  They have rules they have to follow and sadly, many of them don't ever get caught cuz no one files the complaints.  (I found that the NICER I am, the more THEY get irritated...! Ha ha) AND, sometimes the best thing to do is to blurt out, "I'm sorry but the debtor isn't available, I'm happy to take a message" (collect all their info)  and simply HANG UP.  If they repeatedly call you back in retaliation, they get fined and you might end up a little wealthier yourself.  It happened to me many years ago.  BUT remember, without evidence of their behavior, you won't have much to file in a complaint. The link I gave is to the Federal Trade Commission's site for Consumer Protection.  It's very interesting.
