I currently have an M1 visa which is good for the next 5 years, now i wish to visit US on a B 2 visa(tourist visa), If i apply for the B2 visa, will the embassy cancel my current M1 visa status and issue me a new B 2 visa or will I continue on both the visas? And how long do you think will I get the visa for?

  1. You can apply for a Visa for various lengths of time.

Within that time you can enter multiple times.

You may stay up to six months. After six months, you may apply for an extension of stay, generally for another six months.

Note: If you are exempt as a citizen of a country under the Visa Waiver program, you may stay for up to 90 days without a visa.

The link below is for the US Department of State information on the B2 visa:

I don't know what will happen with your Student Visa on application for the B2, but you could find out from the State Department.
