I am on a rowing team. How can I maximize my ability to row a 2k, diet and firness wise?

I want to gain as much strength as possible on my 2k pieces. I am very good at long distance but need help building more power on short pieces. Suggestions?

  1. I would start with strength training, through weights, as well as explosive power with running stair drills and track workouts. It really helped me, even before working on the diet, but negate the obvious junk food items. Eat lots of veggies and always a bit of meat to help increase muscle mass. Carbs will stay with you for the long haul. Eliminate coffee, soda, and other high salt beverages to allow your body to breathe, naturally.


  2. Up the good carbs, multigrains and such. But when you have to do a short one before you do up your plain carb intake, they will give you the most energy right away.

    Also, lots of water, working out, and protein to build up the necessary muscles.
