I have a sister that had some fertility challenges (she now has 3 kids) and at first they precribed metphormin to regulate her insulin that apparently was killing off her eggs; they even gave her medication to regulate her periods before that.  So that's sounds about right, but your doc will definitely be able to give you peace of mind about that and anything else needed. Don't forget pre-natal vitamins!
