I drink 1 cup of coffee per day and drink 1 diet soda per day. I use whitening tooth paste. I have the 4 veneers in the front. My regular teeth are so much whiter than my veneers. I use otc whiteners on my regular teeth. My question is why is this happening????? I got the so called Hollywood White.......I paid 900.00 for each veneer.....and they are not even that even or straight. I live in Southern Ca. the Orange County area....Garden Grove...Huntington Beach.....Please any suggestions.....I am so upset about this. My first pair lasted 12 years before they started to yellow....and I thought porcelain can't change color....if you put coffee on a white china plate....it will not change color???? I thought porcelain was resistant to stains........Could I possibly have gotten composite veneers and was lied to by the dentist.....I don't put anything past anyone these days.

please any suggestions welcome

  1. They should not change color so quickly, besides i believe their was an error while shade/Colour selection by your dentist.

  2. full coverage porcelain crowns do not do this......

  3. Veneers don't last forever.  No matter how little coffee or soda you drink.  If you read most web pages, they are said to last 10-20 years if done correctly.  Sounds like you got a good price though.  They can average $750-1500 per tooth.

Everyday care includes brushing, flossing and using a non-abrasive fluoride toothpaste.  Also, avoid biting your nails, ice, hair pins, bottles, and grinding your teeth (this can cause chipping).  They are also not totally resistant to stains, but mostly.  What actually picks up the stains is the cement they use to adhere the veneer to your tooth.  The edges where the cement is holding the veneer in place can get stained.

Your veneers probably look darker because of all the whitening you are doing to your other teeth.  When your dentist put them on, he matches your veneer to the color of your other teeth at that time.  If you whiten too much, they won't match anymore.

    Good luck!
