  1. -go on the computer less

-sit farther way from the computer

-dont sit too near to the tv screen

-dont read in the dark[[its better with lots of light]]

  2. eat alot of carrots you will see a big change  i was born blind up until i was 3 years old my mom told me the first thing i ever saw was birds flying across the sky in i lifted my hand up in said birds (my first time seeing) i am now 20 in i have 20/20 vision my friends get mad because i can see things that most people cant

  3. not use computer as much, and if you do always use it in a lighted room never in the dark and take a 5 min break every 1 hr if you plan to stay on it for quite awhile, if you read books or manga alot, never read lying down and again in a nice bright room.  if your computer monitor is the old kind the big and fat kind you should switch to lcd, less harmful to your eyes

  4. Unfortunately not.  Your eyes will continue to grow and change as you do.  Myopia (nearsightedness) usually progresses through the teens and stabilizes in the twenties.  At that time, laser surgery or an implant my be an option.

Carrots have Vitamin A, which will help your night vision if you have a Vitamin A deficiency to start out with--they cannot improve myopia.

Using computers often, watching TV, and reading in the dark may all cause eyestrain, but they don't have any permanent effects on your eyesight.

Eyesight is determined by the size and shape of your eye.  For myopes, their corneas (clear front part of the eye) focus light too strongly for the length of their eyes, usually because their eyes have grown longer.  This causes light to be focused in front of the retina (the back of the eye where light needs to fall for a clear image).  This is why carrots and computers don't effect your vision--they can't change these properties of your eye.

I suggest you keep getting your eye checkups so that you will have up-to-date glasses and be able to see clearly.  Also talk to your optometrist about contacts if you haven't already.  I know -8.00 glasses can be thick and annoying sometimes, especially for a teenager.

Rx is shorthand for prescription.  Your prescription is -8.00.

  5. not really, the old wives tale of sitting too close to the tv is not true. anything that strains them i would cut down. also wear really dark sunglasses. but unfortunately you are stuck with poor eye sight. once your eyes stabilize with the same rx you can see if you are a candidate for lasic.

  6. Afraid not.  The need for glasses actually has a lot to do with how long your eyeball is from front to back.  Your eye is actually very long compared to someone with normal/good vision.  I compare it to your shoe size...there is much you can do to change what size sneaker you will eventually wear and there isn't much you can do to change what your glasses prescription will be either.

  7. Wow that is really high! There comes a time when your RX will grow.  Lets see there isn;t really something that you could do to stop your eye sight. i had a pt who's sight grew with her age when she turned 18 it just stop. She went from a -050 all the way too -10.00... but everyone is diffrent. As your doctor when you go and see him, ask him wat are your choices.
