Hi i am currently studying in sixth form college doing my A-levels. I started off AS doing Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Then due to the poor teaching in Physics i had to drop it at A-Level because it would affect my other subjects.

My grades are hopefully going to be

Maths (A-Level) B

Chemistry (A-Level) B-C

Physics (AS-Level) D

Would i be eligible to study at University in Ireland, specifically Limerick. I am very anxious as i have always dreamed of studying there. I would be grateful for any advice and i am up for doing anything to get me onto this course like foundation years etc. Please if you could reply with some help i would appreciate it. Thank You

  1. If you get two passes at A level, then you can get your tuition paid for, so that is the main thing.  Then be realistic about the places to which you apply (have you applied, or are you going through clearing???)

Maths is a meaty A level;  you can't really do well without understanding, whereas some other subjects are not such ood indicators of intelligence, so your hoped for B should stand you in good stead.  Similarly Chem and your AS in Physics will help.  Who will write your personal reference?  If they can incorporate some hint or explanation about the problem in Physics (I believe there is a shortage of teachers so the Unis will know that), then they maydeduce that the situation reflects matters outside your control.  they still need to believe you can cope with their degree (it would be helpful to no-one if you dropped out early), but they have to understand that some students get better teaching than others and that it can effect their results!

Good luck.  the worse thing to do is to panic!
