The number one shot stopper at Juventus is looking to continue playing football for another three years to fulfil his dream of lifting the Champions League trophy.
The former shot stopper of Parma has been at the Juventus in their good times and their bad times; and has seen the glory days as well as the darkness that surrounded the club following the Calciopoli controversy. Having won the Scudetto on a number of occasions with the Bianconeri outfit as well as lifting the biggest trophy in the world of football, the World Cup, many might think that the Italian is satisfied with his career; but that is not the case.
There has been one trophy that has eluded the most expensive goal keeper in the history of world football, and that is the elusive trophy of the Champions League. The Turin giants came agonisingly close to lifting the trophy in the All-Italian final in 2003 which saw AC Milan pitted against Juventus. However, due to the heroics of their Ukrainian star, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Andriy-Shevchenko-c6014, the Rossoneri did not give Buffon the chance to get his hands on the silverware.
The hunger of silverware still burns in the 34-year-old and he is looking to make the most of it in his coming years as the Bianconeri goal keeper. Buffon is currently contracted with Juve till this June, and Buffon has remarked that there is no doubt that he will be putting pen to paper.
While talking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, he remarked that he is looking forward to playing the upcoming matches in the Turin campaign, and will look at the contract after that. He was quoted to have said:
“The delay in putting pen to paper is down to priorities. Those of the team and mine. Let’s get these important games out of the way first and then we’ll think about the signature. There will be no surprises, I’ll stay for another three years. I think I’ll still be able to make the difference over that period of time.”
Buffon was signed by the Old Lady in the summer of 2001 from the Gialloblu.
