I recently resigned from my Company and start my new position on Oct. 1st.

My twin sister is moving from CA to DC in two weeks to start her new job. I am going with her to help her get settled. I am excited for her, but extremely sad at the same time.

My Mom's health is failing fast! I'm worried about who is going to take care of her. I don't want to have to put her into a "home."

My Partner's business just changed locations. He's in the middle of this huge move.

I can't sleep. I am so stressed out that I've put on 5 pounds in two weeks! Then, I SLEEP ALL DAY! I am completely depressed and can't even find the energy to get off the couch.

I've been seeing a therapist, yet I feel as if he has not been giving me things I can do NOW to help ease this angst and worry. I have had two panic attacks in the last month and I haven't had a panic attack in years.

Your advice would be helpful. Thanks!

  2. Hello!

It is normal to feel overwhelmed, we all feel like that sometimes, especially you have so many unpleasant events going on in your life now.

When I can not cope with all negative things in my life I TAKE A BREACK.

Just find a place or an activity that make you forget all these at least an hour, and think of all the positive aspects of your life.

You will still be close to your sister by phone, e-mails and so on; and enjoy the time you spend with your mother without overthinking.

Regarding your sleeping problem and all the rest, the best way to overcome stress is SPORT. The endorphines released after that will calm you down and make you happy again.

    Kiss you, Vera.

  3. I am really sorry to hear about your mom, and your job. Your job alone can be a big stress, but now that your mom's health is bad too? I feel for you strongly. The panic attacks are returning because of the stress. If you find ways to relieve your stress you can probably get some sleep and feel a load better. I struggle with panic attacks too. My advice to you is to just try to remain calm and relaxed. I know that may not be easy at times like this, but it's basically the only thing you can do besides taking medication that will probably make you feel like a zombie anyway.

One of the best ways I find to relax is a hot bath (bubble is good too). I know you're probably thinking "That's a GIRLS thing" but trust me. A lot of guys take hot baths too. They are truly relaxing. You could also try going out for a walk on a nice day. Fresh air truly does cleanse you, and relieve all that heavy stress clogged up inside you.

As for the strength to get off of that couch, I think you can do it. You're already taking the first step by asking advice on how to. Do just go for it. Get up and don't lie back down. Call a close friend, or go spend time with your mom. Think of a funny joke. Anything like that.

    I really hope I helped.
