I am planing a trip to Ukraine next yr. What month and airline should i take the trip?

I always prefer Northwest/KLM as they have the best flights for me at the cheapest price. My second alternative is Lufthansa through Frankfurt, if I can get on an actual Lufthansa flight instead of their US partner - they have much better service than a US carrier.

When to go depends on what you like to do, and where in Ukraine you are going.

June is good, as you can enjoy warm weather before the July and August heat sets in. June is pleasant for travelling the country, and seeing the sites.  However, the Crimean beaches are packed between June and September, if that is your destination.

The end of December-first of January is nice if you like holidays and can stand a bit of cold (it's not as cold as everyone claims). Ukrainians know how to celebrate Christmas and New Years, and there are many good Russian and Ukrainian shows to see around that time of year (if you like ballet, music, dancing, skating, etc).

September is a great month to go to the Crimean peninsula. It is still warm, the summer crowds are gone, and the prices drop to about 1/2 of summer rates.

But my favorite month in Ukraine is May. It is a bit cooler, the trains are not crowded, and spring is absolutely beautiful in Ukraine.
