  1. Mid to later afternoon.  Make sure that you don't have it on a day where there is a big play-off game of some sort or some type of a sporting or "guy" type event in your town.  The guys will resent being there and it could make the get together a real downer.

  2. I think it depends on your location, for weather purposes.  It is summer, so it is very hot outside still at 5pm, even 6pm.  If it is a couples shower then I would say 6:30 or 7pm.  Are kids allowed?  Just a suggestion, but even though its not a kids bday party you need to consider them as well.  You might have to get them some entertainment...?? Just an idea

    Good luck

  3. For a shower? Saturday or sunday at 12? Good luck.

  4. Mothers should not be planning their children's showers at all. It is in the poorest of taste for immediate family to throw a shower and will be seen as nothing but a gift grab. Please don't do it. Hand off to an aunt or cousin or family friend even if you do some of the planning and handle some of the expense, but please do NOT have your name as RSVP on the invitations or really any indication that you are actually throwing it.

  5. It depends on if you want it to be a shower based around a meal time or not. If you do not want it to be all about the food, then steer clear of times close to lunch or dinner. I have catered for a bride's mom on small budget who wanted to have light hors d'oeuvres and punch only, so we planned it directly after the lunch hour so that the attendees had already eaten a meal and then they only snacked lightly at the shower. Also, I also did a dessert-centered shower at 7:00 pm, after the attendees had already eaten dinner. Just make sure you notate on the invitations exactly what type of shower you are hosting.

  6. after lunch, but before dinner. around 3:00. That way you don't have to have a full meal; just appetizers. and the guests should know by the time on the invitation that they should eat before they come. Less stress on you. Good luck!!!

  7. I WOULD SAY ABOUT 2-3 ISH OR IF YOU WANT SOMETHING LATER IN THE EVENING THAT WILL LAST A WHILE I'D START AT ABOUT 5-6 ISH....BUT IF YOU DO THAT BE SURE YOU WILL HAVE FOOD TO EAT LIKE DINNER ITEMS SINCE THAT WOULD BE AROUND DINNER TIME. IF YOU DO IT AT 2-3 ISH YOU COULD HAVE JUST SNACK FOODS.

  8. I had a friend that did that and it was so much fun! His was around 5 in the evening though and they turned it into a shower/BBQ. That way there is something for the ladies and guys.

  9. if you are having a couples shower make it a family affair and do it at 1 just after lunch or an evening event with dinner. otherwise you put the burden on the couples to find babysitters. Get a young teenager to entertain the kids
