Make suggestions about must see places, shops, nightlife based on personal experience. Since i have already been there before i m not interested in monuments this time. I m only interested in living the parisienne lifestyle for a while and in getting some "belle epoque" feeling...let me know about fabulous bistrots to spent time in or where to drink my espresso or where to stroll etc...(or where i can see vincent cassel peut etre!!!)

  1. Check out my favorite hangout, Aux Trois Mailletz at 56 rue Galande in the 5th (its right off the rue St. Jacques just a couple of blocks down from the river.)

    A great 1950's style nightclub in the basement fills up with elegantly dressed people pulling up in limos. The ground floor has a piano player and various singers doing old stands, jazz and even opera.

    The food is good and not outrageously priced, the crowd is a good mix of locals and tourists. Its a very convivial place.

    The bouncer looks like a cross between Bull Shannon from Night Court and Lurch from the Adams family (his name is Eric) but is really a very sweet guy.

  2. My favourite thing about Paris;

    Make your way to the Sculpture in the Open Air Park, which is along the banks of the Seine.  There at about nine o clock at night, you will find all sorts of groups of people picnicing and dancing. It's absolutely amazing, the salsa, the tango etc.  We chanced on it by accident and it the only thing that I would absolutely return to see.

  3. Vince lives in the 20th near Belleville and I see him scootering around alot in the 19th and 20th...  He's a bit of a bohemian type and the 19th and 20th are the place to be for that kind of experience.  Check out the Paris travel mag "paris capitale".   they have a great section on nightlife...

    my fav stops: oberkampf, bastille, chinatown, belleville...

  4. get off at odeon metro station and stroll around there for food. Many alleys full of eatery.

    champ elysees is where all the young chic people hang out.

  5. Go to passports.com and go on one of there tour trips because they show you everything there is in France and they also book all the hotels you need.

  6. If you haven't already done so, stroll along the Canal St. Martin, one of the settings for the film "Amélie."
