  1. Absolutely hands down, take a plane. Find a destination with major airport close to your lodging.  I have traveled all over Mexico for over 20 years. The buses leave alot to be desired. I would not want my small child on one. Most are very dirty. My all time favorite location when my children were younger was Occidental Allegro in Cozumel. They have a kids club with lots of activities.

    Have FUN!

  2. Take a plane to your destination. We've taken our grandson into Mexico the last 2 years, at age 4 and 5.  Bring some snacks for him if he has some favorite ones. You can get most anything in Mexico but he might like something he knows once in a while.  He'll have a great time.  And there aren't any passenger trains in Mexico.

  3. Take a plane straight to your destination. And be careful with the food there. Lot's of people get sick, especially little tykes. Don't buy from any street vendors.

  4. Toys, gameboy and of course the "good night juice": Benadryl.

  5. Plane - especially with a 4 year old. Bus would be an absolute nightmare and train would be difficult at best.

I think the cost difference is well worth the conv. and time savings.
