Air consolidation firms are quite good.  If you are coming from the US, I believe Delta has a New York-Kyiv bi weekly direct flight that you could get on as well.  If you have flexible dates, try calling Delta for very late unsold seats on the NY-Kyiv flight, sometimes they are quite willing to work with you.  Although be warned, Delta service sucks, so don't expect luxury, just a cheap trip.

The cheapest tickets I've found, bought in advance are from one of two sources. I always check both, and no web based ticket sales will beat either of them (all fees included).
