I am planning next years holiday in Ireland.?

Question

My wife and I are planning to travel around Ireland next year for 3 weeks. We will be driving, staying in hotels and nice b&bs. We are not the camping or hostel type no offence to those who are. Where is good to Stay, Visit, Eat, any annual events that you know of in August 2007. All and any info is appreciated. Detailed info like opening times, locations, directions and phone Numbers will be great also. Cheers.

where do i start ? well all of ireland is great, especially the hospitality, b&b's are everywhere but when you get to cork you should stay in one called aisling b&b on the kinsale road tel [phone] ask for betty. from here you are a stone throw away from kinsale, the city centre, blarney, cobh and loads of other things. do not miss out on a trip to the ring of kerry, dingle and surrounding areas, bus eireann actually do tours to there and other places log on to

well in north cork there is a music festival in august during the bank Holiday weekend.if you go to killarney in co Kerry the streets are lined with b&bs.both cork and kerry are in munster in the south of ireland and you could fly into cork airport.Dublin is the capital which has got intersting places like trintiny collage where the books of kells can be seen.Dublin is in the province of leinster which is the east of the country.there are loads of hotels like the Jurys inn ,which is a reasonable place too stay.check out  :www.bordfailte.ie

You will have a great time north and south.  B.B are cheap and plentiful with great Irish breakfast that will last you all day..  We went on speck and booked as we saw. no probs..Just follow the coast roads...Take in all the other advice plus, if in your own car check your ins..the south is in the E.U. same as driving on the continent ..   Enjoy...

You should consider the North Coast of Northern Ireland. Start at Benone beach near Limavady,  Benevenagh mountain , Downhill with the Mussenden Temple, the towns of Portstewart/Portrush which have good hotels and B&Bs and nightclubs and golf courses.  

If you work your way around the coast, you can visit Dunluce Castle, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, and the Bushmills Distillery where they make the whisky.  Bushmills has excellent restaurants and hotels.

There's the famous Giant's Causeway and if you reach Ballycastle there will be the Olde Lammas Fair on the Bank holiday Monday and Tuesday.  At the end of August there is an air show in Portrush.

Sounds good!!  Try and visit the Cork and Kerry area.  In Cork you can Kiss the Blarney Stone (to give you the gift of the gab, apparently!) Blarney is just outside Cork city so you could either stay in either place.  Other places to visit are, Clonakilty, Kinsale, Bantry etc.   Kerry is also nice, and the Rose of Tralee festival is on around the 21st of August so should be good fun.

Donegal in the North West is also beautiful, Killybegs is very picturesque.  Galway and Belfast are also lovely cities.

To be honest, there are loads of places to visit.  If you look up http://www.ireland.ie/ you should find it useful.  Tip though, whatever hotel rate you are quoted on the website, you should then look up the actual hotel website, I find this is nearly always cheaper.

Good for you.

Hope you get over to West and see Clare and Galway. Salt Hill is  nice, you can go shark fishing if you fancy it, in the Atlantic!

Its been a while since I was there but Galways is tremendous place. Live music everywhere, really vibrant.

On east coast, Dublin obviously, go and see the Abbey theatre if you can and of course Oscar Wilde's house etc. Bit further down, Waterford is very nice, Tramore is a nice seaside place.
