i am just a little confused as to how it works.

some schools have nursing graduate programs, but not undergrad nursing programs.

other schools have nursing as an undergraduate major.

what i'm asking is, if you go through an undergrad nursing program can you actually become a nurse, or do you have to do both the undergrad nursing program and then a graduate program?

from what i previously understood a person would go through the undergrad program to become a nurse and then specialize through the graduate program.

  1. To become a RN, you need to 4 year BSN (undergraduate) degree from an accredited college or university. From what I understand you don't necessarily specialize during your MSN, but a MSN will give you a "Nurse Practitioner" title, which pays more and does more clinical supervision and teaching than a regular RN.
