  1. I started in Perth and went up the west coast to Darwin, then onto Cairns and then down the east coast to Sydney and Melbourne. The west coast is too often neglected, even though I think it is the most beautiful part of Australia.

  2. I'm going in October and starting in Perth. The TV told me to :) I'm going with my sister and we didn't fancy the idea of starting in Sydney since it's where everyone goes. We're still not sure whether we're going to leave Perth or stay for the whole year. We'll just have to see what happens when we get there. We're also applying for working holiday visas so we thought it would be a bit easier to get work in Perth (hopefully!). Yeah but don't start in Canberra, apparently it's really boring.

  3. Always start in the countrys capital CANBERRA.

  4. You can find some cheap accommodation and even places that will include your meals for free on www.hotels2go.com.au  They only launched on Friday so they are currently adding more hotels so if they don't have anything you are after at the moment, make sure you save the address and check back later because they are planning to have over a thousand in the next couple of months! I hope you enjoy your trip!

  5. Australia is well geared up for back-packers. Ex backpackers re sell what they have bought whilst there (keep your eyes open for them)

Get to know back-packers when you arrive they'll soon put you right.

Simply work out where you wanna go then work out your route across or round??

  6. watever anyone else says dont start in Canberra. its boring and useless. start in sydney
