  1. I live near an airport. It is kinda annoying but you'll get used to it after a while (even though it may take a long time) but try and buy some ear plugs for the first few nights good luck.

  2. Talk to a realtor, of course, but also look into which way the runways are laid out. If they're east-west, for example, you might consider a home on the northern or southern side. It's not that you won't hear anything, but it might be minimized. (And I might have this backward - so check it out.)

I lived near one airport - actually, a naval air base. The fighter jet noise was horrendous - couldn't hear people when you were talking on the phone. So, no more living near airports for me. But that's a different situation than a commercial airport.

You might take some time and just hang out in several neighborhoods. How bad is the noise? How frequent? Then figure you might be inside most of the time with the windows closed, music playing, etc. It might work fine for you. Someone mentioned ear plugs. Not a bad idea.

Also check into how late at night the flights run.

Just a few ideas, hope they help.

  3. Prepare for A LOT of noise.
