I am planning on buying a new Tv The one I am looking at has an atsc tuner. Is this the correct type?

I presently get cable, but may switch to a dish in the future.

  1. The ATSC tuner is the correct tuner for digital over-the-air broadcasts. Since you have cable, look also for this TV to have the QAM tuner for the reception of clear channel digital programming provided by your cable service. The other tuner still commonly included is the older NTSC tuner for analog reception. This will be needed for the reception of non-HD service from your cable or disk network service providers.
