If money is no object, there are plenty of hotels in munich.

As you might expect, prices rise dramaticly for this occasion.

On a budget?  Try one of the lesser known gasthouses in  nearby towns.

Take the train to the Octoberfest and you can enjoy yourselves and drink all the beer you like.

it really depends what you are looking for.

In any case, keep in mind, that Octoberfest is a busy time around here and you will need to book way in advance (at least six months) to get a good deal.

Most of them offer single and double bedrooms for more comfort and 6 to 8 bed dormitories, if you're on a really tight budget.

I recommend the Hotel Jedermann (http://www.hotel-jedermann.de/english/in... in Munich.   It's very centrally located-- only a few blocks from the main train station (Hauptbahnhof).  It's also not very far from the "Wies'n", too, and it's right on a tram line.

It's reasonably priced, especially considering the location.  Nothing super fancy, but nice, basic & clean.  The breakfast buffet is great, and there's free internet access in the lobby, too.  I stayed there last fall, and the staff was very polite and extremely helpful.   (They also spoke English.)

The Jedermann is kind of a basic business traveler-type hotel,  but I thought it was fantastic, especially for the location.  The HBf and Marienplatz were within walking distance, but you coulld just as easily take the tram to the HBf & then pick up any of the other public transportation to get anywhere else you would want to go.

Very highly recommend the place-- have fun!!!
