I will be attending a language school and have the option to base myself in either Florence or Rome. This will be my first trip to Italy so I'm not sure where to stay.

  1. I'd say Florence because it's closer to Nice,(Riviera) France!

  2. It's a matter of your temperament. As I can see my answer will be opposite to the others.I was many times in whole Italy and I'll say ROME without no shadow of doubt.

  3. I have been to both and Florence is much better for everything, history, shops, social life and buildings.

Hope you enjoy your language school. Ciao.

  4. i would say florence in a heartbeat. i wasnt that big a fan of rome

  5. Do what you feel like, both are lovely cities, Rome is bigger than Florence, but both cities have a lot to offer

  6. I would say Florance because it is a nice region and you are close to Rome, Naples, and Venice for day trips.  Florance is also really beautiful and surounded by lots of nice countryside if you need a break from the tourists.  Rome is a beautiful but hectic city.  I think it would be hard to live there.
