  1. You are not permitted to have employment in New Zealand if you are on a Visitor Visa.

You must have a work permit before you enter the country. Try Student Job Search, they will assist.

Accommodation is relatively easy to get except perhaps in Auckland. Some jobs - in horticulture and hospitality will have accommodation with the job.

    Again, try SJS.

  2. if you do seasonal work, such as fruit picking you can travel new zealand and see alot of different places

  3. You can only work (for pay) here if you have a permit. However, if you get one there is heaps of seasonal work here, especially in the tourism industry! Just about every backpackers I've been to has non-NZers working in it. If you work at a backpackers, you often can get free accommodation & meals (WOOFing). If you speak another language you should easily be able to find a job at a tourist attraction, hotel etc, information centre...

It's usually not too hard to find accommodation, many backpackers have long term plans. It depends where you are though. In a larger town it should be easier, because there are far more backpackers available. Smaller places tend to be fully booked for the busy season, so it might be harder to get long term accommodation unless you are working for them.

Good luck anyhow. All the WOOFers I've met in backpackers have loved their time here!
