I am planning to have a fancy derss birthday party and need ideas?

We are all in our 30s and want something different than the usual - pirates, cops and robbers, cowboys and indians, superheroes etc so any suggestions for something different ?

you could give each person a different letter of the alphabet and ask them to come dressed up as something beginning with that letter?

I went to a party with this alphabet fancy-dress and some of the ideas were really creative and fun :)

any fancy costumer will have an array of costumes for all the guest to find what they wqnt to be but have a mask as well its more intriguing when you can't see their faces

but one important thing when arranging a party make it a secret as so many parties have been spoiled by uninvited guests and the fights start and the amount of people that turn up will be astronomical and don't use the front garden as they will attract the unwanted sounds fun and would love to be a guest myself

Something historical would be nice but expensive. The one you have already listed are popular as they are cheap and easy to find outfits for. You have to think of your guests who might have a hard time affording something else.

If you want to dress fancy what about a prom party. You could call it  "REMEMBER WHEN."  Even set up a pretty place that your couples could get there picture taken and get out your camera. Then after you develope the pictures you could give it to them and they would have something to remember the night by.

Hiya, I have just had one...but we had a murder mystery...really good and you get to choose what people come dressed as.... (you get to choose who their characters) you can buy the games really cheap...

My wife had a party and called it "What A Carry On" The idea is that everyone comes as anything connected to a Carry On movie. That way there are few restrictions.
