I am planning to install either a granite or marble counter top in my bathroom. What are the pros and cons?

Do I need to apply a chemical sealer before use of a new granite or marble ?

  1. I think with the Marble you need to use a sealer on it because it is porous. Another option that is a little bit cheaper than granite is recycled glass and it looks a lot like granite and good for the environment!!  


  2. yes those stones are vary porous meaning they absorb everything if not sealed  

  3. I do marble. Its a little more classic. As a designer I'm burnt out on granite, its been really trendy for the past 5-10 years and I think its going to be out soon.

    I love white or carrera marble for a bath

  4. you be safe with granite instead of marble, granite is cheap then marble, plus looks good and cleans better.

  5. Of the three stone choices for a bathroom counter, marble is the most porous, granite is better, and quartz is even better (although less expensive). Quartz is really a naturally occurring form of glass so it is super sturdy and stain resistant. It also comes in lots of colors which resemble granite. There may be other brand names of it but one is Silestone.
