I am not sure of UCLA's reputation in biotechnology, but I know that UAlbany (SUNY), SUNY Buffalo, Binghamton University (SUNY), and Stony Brook (SUNY) all have excellent sciences and UAlbany has the #1 ranked in the world Nanotechnology center. Stony Brook is known as the top science and math SUNY overall. Good luck!
